‘Will it make the boat go faster?’

8th November 2011

95 HR Directors, CFO’s and Procurement Directors gathered to help us celebrate our London launch on Tuesday November 8th at Axis, One Aldwych.

It was a fantastic evening; plenty of food and wine flowed but the highlight of the evening was a presentation by Ben Hunt-Davis.

Ben was a Gold medal winner at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in the Men’s Eight rowing crew, and he explained how a team that was not expected to perform reorganised themselves around a common goal. Throughout their training everything the crew did was focussed on ‘will it make the boat go faster’ (the crew didn’t attend the Olympic Opening Ceremony for that reason!). In a thoroughly entertaining way Ben enabled everyone to realise that such a simple guiding principle can have far reaching effects on team performance.

We are very grateful for everyone’s support at the event, a number of our established clients mixed with many new ones, and it seems everyone had a great time. Ben signed a copy of his book for everyone to take away.

Many thanks to you all for a truly lovely evening, very generous hospitality and a splendid venue.
I really enjoyed Ben’s talk and look forward to reading his book.

I just wanted to say thank you for a very pleasant and enjoyable evening.
It was very well organised with lots of interesting people to talk to with an inspiring talk by Ben Hunt-Davies. I read his book all the way home on the train!
A very worthwhile event and thank you again for inviting me.
